MEET THE TEAM

Stephanie Huiskamp
Owner
Stephanie began working with clay in middle school and has fond memories of her time in the studio. As a parent she wants the same opportunities for her own children. She has worn many hats and had a number of different careers that have led to this endeavor. Stephanie hopes to build community and create an inclusive studio where all people can grow and thrive.

Lauren Cloughesy
Program Director
Lauren's love for clay began in childhood at an art camp, where she discovered the magic of turning a simple ball of clay into anything she could imagine. She loved the way it felt in her hands, the endless possibilities, and the surprise of what would emerge from the kiln. That sense of wonder has stuck with her ever since. Today, she keeps that same childlike curiosity in her own work—experimenting with new techniques, embracing bright colors, and making what feels good rather than just what looks good. In her teaching, Lauren strives to pass that joy along. With a background in early childhood education, she creates a space where kids can explore, take creative risks, and develop confidence in their ideas. She loves lessons that involve texture, iteration, and collaboration, helping kids discover their own way of working with clay. More than anything, she wants them to experience the excitement and possibility that first drew her in—because ceramics is, at its core, about play.

Danielle D'Aversa
Operations Manager
Danielle first learned ceramics while at Roger Williams University and then honed her craft through mentorships and self exploration in her home studio. As a teacher, she brings the experience of a potter who has shown her work in galleries, sold pots in markets all across New England, and has a true passion for the craft. Danielle's teaching style follows the fundamental skills of wheel-throwing while pushing each individual towards achieving their own personal goals. She brings an open mind, friendly demeanor, enthusiasm, and an adaptable teaching style to her classes to meet students where they are. Danielle hopes to inspire creativity and foster community within her classes and believes that the most valuable pottery education comes from community studios like Mudville Clay Studio.
